The work of the House of Zaikanama unfolds through a set of research practices, each approaching food from a different angle. Some begin in the archive, others through conversation, observation, or reconstruction. Together these practices allow everyday meals, ingredients, and kitchen practices to be examined as historical evidence. Over time they form an evolving body of research that explores how food records domestic life, labour, memory, and social relationships.
